Philosophical perspective test anyone?

Hey y'all, Sharon here!
I had an interesting thought today. In my education 251 course, we were instructed to test a test to see what sort of educational philosophy we each were. I encourage you to take this on and see what kind of philosophical perspective you have! You might even be surprised by the results.
Here is the link in case you were interested. :)

P.S. - it will only take about five minutes of your time.

Cheers,Sharon
Alrighty folks, Sharon and Josh here! This is an assignment for our Education 300 course in which we will discuss philosophers and their ideas. Essentially we will touch on what education is for and even what education is? What does it mean to be human? What is knowledge and how should be learn and acquire this knowledge?

Everyone likes movies, right? Well movies can provide viewers the experience to set themselves in their shoes and provide some insight on what that might look like. If we set some questions and some guidelines to look for during the movie, we can take even more from the movie and maybe even apply it to our life! Deep hey?
Our professor provided general questions to look for during two movies he showed us in class. Those being:
* Stand up and Deliver
and
* Emperors Club
What assumptions are there of the use of education? And what view is the film proposing?
These movies had quite different uses of education and social settings especially.

In Stand up and Deliver we are shown a typical inner city kinda school that values a fake and fast track learning style. However, the one teacher that sticks out and makes a difference in which he tries to motivate these students in such a way that will influence them later in life. He teaches them information in the hopes that they might break their socio-economic restraints. or in other words, equip them with skills in school to get them a job in the future. We can compare this with the type of education system often shown in Alberta. In Alberta focus is on making a reliable and equipped members of society that will be helpful and productive in contributing to the job market.
However, this is vastly different from Emperors Club where he makes his students really think about what their impact on the world and society should be.
The educator of this exclusive private school, calls students to not be simply a wall flower but rather be remembered after death. Inspiring beyond greatness!

It is interesting to compare the difference of what the use of education is and how that applies to these two different social economic groups. Obviously there is a calling for higher moral standard in Emperors Club although, this does not dismiss the use of education for equipping responsible citizens with jobs.
With the contrasting views brought forth with these two movies, we are now able to see different ways or approaches of missions in the classroom.
